01 / RSIIR DIMENSIONS

Find your starting point.

Browse 91 butyl rubber stopper models, then send the selected reference with your container drawing for a fit review.

Blue solid butyl rubber stoppers and illustrated section: A across the body, B across the flange, C below the flange, D flange thickness and E internal opening

Read the section. Confirm the model.

A: body width · B: flange width · C: below-flange height · D: flange thickness · E: internal opening.

The section illustrates an internal recess. Some models have this feature; product photographs show the solid exterior style. Confirm the internal profile, dimension units and tolerances on the agreed model drawing.

02 / CLOSURE PERFORMANCE

Built around what
your container needs.

Vial stoppers do more than cover an opening. The compound, geometry and container work together to control contact, sealing and access.

Gas & moisture barrier

Butyl rubber is valued for low gas and water-vapor permeability. Actual protection also depends on the seal between the stopper and the container.

Elastic sealing contact

Rubber vial stoppers deform against the mating surface. Fit and compression must allow the compound to maintain contact during the intended use.

Piercing & recovery

For needle-access applications, pharmaceutical rubber stoppers require an appropriate balance of penetrability, fragmentation and resealing performance.

Application-led compounds

Choose bromobutyl rubber stoppers around the contents and service conditions. Review contact compatibility using the selected formulation.

Performance is specific to the selected compound, part design and complete closure system. Confirm requirements with application samples.

03 / APPLICATIONS

One material family.
Different closure demands.

Explore where pharmaceutical stoppers and laboratory closures are used. Each application calls for its own material and geometry review.

LYOPHILIZATION

Freeze-dried formulations

Pharmaceutical vial rubber stoppers for freeze-drying need a geometry that allows vapor to escape during processing and closes fully afterwards. Discuss a dedicated venting design for this application.

Selection focusA standard solid RSIIR profile is not automatically a freeze-drying design.

LIQUID CONTAINMENT

Infusion containers

Butyl stoppers can form the closure or access component of a glass infusion container. The neck, retaining closure and intended piercing device must be evaluated together.

SAMPLE COLLECTION

Vacuum collection tubes

A collection tube closure helps retain the pressure difference before use and seals around the intended sampling interface. Rubber stopper geometry and the tube assembly jointly affect performance.

Selection focusEvaluate vacuum retention and closure fit in the complete tube.

LABORATORY APPLICATIONS

Serum & laboratory bottles

Serum vial stoppers and sample-bottle closures help limit exchange with the surrounding air. Match butyl rubber stoppers to the sample medium, sampling method and storage conditions.

04 / MATERIAL & FINISH

Bromobutyl rubber.
Selected for your project.

Our factory manufactures bromobutyl rubber stoppers to your closure requirements. Tell us about the contents and service conditions so we can review the compound and geometry.

Our supply

Bromobutyl rubber stoppers

A halogenated butyl compound family used in pharmaceutical vial stoppers and other container closures. Discuss the formulation, hardness and geometry needed for your application.

Material comparison

Chlorobutyl rubber stoppers

Bromobutyl and chlorobutyl are both used to make halogenated butyl rubber stoppers. Compare specific formulations rather than assuming identical performance or substituting one compound for another.

BlueGrayWhiteBlack

Blue butyl rubber stoppers, along with gray, white and black, are examples of the colors we offer. We can also customize the color to your requirements. Send a color reference or physical sample so we can review your target shade and confirm it with a product sample. Color is a design choice, not a performance classification.

05 / USE & HANDLING

Details that make
a difference in use.

Use these checkpoints when selecting vial rubber stoppers, reviewing samples and preparing the assembly process.

01

Match the complete container

Check the neck bore, sealing surface and retaining closure against the agreed drawing. A nominal vial size alone does not establish the correct stopper fit.

02

Control assembly compression

Use the intended insertion and closing process. Too little contact can leave a leakage path; excessive deformation can affect seating and recovery.

03

Evaluate contact compatibility

Assess the exact compound with the formulation or sample medium, including contact time and temperature. Material family names do not replace an application-specific evaluation.

04

Define piercing conditions

Specify the needle or access device and expected access count. Review penetration, fragments and resealing using the actual closure assembly; repeated access is not an unlimited-use claim.

05

Inspect before assembly

Check for damage, foreign matter, distortion and dimensional variation. Keep the sealing faces protected during handling and separate parts that do not match the approved sample.

06

Protect during storage

Keep parts in their original protective packaging, away from direct sunlight, heat, ozone sources and unintended chemical contact. Confirm storage conditions for the selected compound.

07 / TECHNICAL & PURCHASING FAQ

Before you
choose a stopper.

Practical answers for teams sourcing pharmaceutical rubber stoppers and custom butyl closures.

Ask our team ↗
What defines high performance vial stoppers?

High performance vial stoppers must meet the needs of a specific container system. Define the barrier, sealing, piercing and contact requirements first, then evaluate the selected compound and geometry against those requirements.

What should I ask a pharmaceutical rubber stoppers supplier?

Ask how the proposed compound and part drawing relate to your container, which features need sample evaluation and how your approved specification will be identified on repeat orders. As a pharmaceutical rubber stoppers manufacturer, we start the discussion with your application and drawing.

Are you a butyl rubber stopper manufacturer?

Yes. STOPPER FACTORY provides butyl rubber stoppers, including bromobutyl rubber stoppers, with OEM and ODM manufacturing. Send a drawing, intended application and order quantity so we can review your project.

Which material do you supply?

We provide bromobutyl rubber stoppers. Bromobutyl and chlorobutyl both belong to the halogenated butyl rubber family, but a chlorobutyl specification should be discussed separately. We do not treat the two compounds as interchangeable.

Can I order a custom geometry or color?

Yes. Our OEM butyl stoppers can follow your drawing, while ODM butyl stoppers start with an application brief and design review. The blue, gray, white and black stoppers shown are examples. We also offer custom colors to meet your requirements. Share a color reference or physical sample, and confirm the final compound and shade with a product sample.

How do I choose a model for my vial?

Compare the RSIIR dimensions with your container drawing, then evaluate samples in the complete assembly. Neither the product photograph nor a nominal 13 mm or 20 mm vial designation is enough to confirm compatibility.

Do all models have the same internal structure?

No. The product photographs show a solid external appearance. Some models have an internal opening or recess, represented by the section drawing and the E column. Confirm the exact internal profile, depth and dimensions on the model drawing before ordering.

Can pharmaceutical rubber stoppers be used for any formulation?

Selection depends on the exact compound, contents, closure geometry and use conditions. Pharmaceutical stoppers should be assessed as part of the intended container system, including contact compatibility and closure performance.

Can you support samples and wholesale orders?

Contact our team for samples and wholesale butyl stoppers. For wholesale pharmaceutical rubber stoppers, include the intended use, model or drawing, quantity per order and forecast demand so we can prepare a project-specific quotation.

What should an OEM/ODM inquiry include?

Send the container and stopper drawings, contact medium, preferred material and color, quantity and any critical fit or access requirements. We use these details to review OEM pharmaceutical rubber stoppers and ODM pharmaceutical rubber stoppers with your team.
